While managing your roofing company’s social media channels might seem like a lot of extra work for you, the truth is it doesn’t have to be! Today we are sharing all of our social media tips, tricks, and tools with you. Keep reading below to learn more!
Social Media Tips, Tricks, and Tools for Roofers
Set Aside Time in Your Schedule
We know we just told you that you won’t need to do a lot of extra work to manage your social media platforms and we promise that is the truth! We just want to ask you to set aside a bit of time for two things:
- Scheduling Your Content
You’ll want to set aside a few hours one day of each month to schedule all of your content for the next month. Although this might seem like a big item to tackle, it will save you time in the long run. Below we’ll discuss the best tool for scheduling your content.
- Engaging With Your Audience
To keep growing your social media channels you need to engage with your audience. Take the time to thank them for their kind comments and maybe drop a like or two back for them! Again we know this sounds time consuming, but it doesn’t have to be! Schedule in 15 minutes each day while you’re drinking your morning coffee to spend on engagement. You’ll be surprised at how much you can get done in that brief window of time.
Use Sprout Social to Schedule Content
Sprout Social is our content scheduling best friend and it is going to be yours too! The Summa Media team uses Sprout Social to schedule all of our social media posts, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn! However, you can also connect Sprout Social to YouTube, Pinterest, and more as needed for your roofing company.
Using Sprout Social to post to all of your social media channels at once allows you spend less time on social media, while still growing your following, and therefore growing your roofing business.
To use Sprout Social you will need to create a Sprout Social profile. Once your profile is created, you can then sync your social media profiles to your Sprout Social.
Take a look at the tab on the right hand side of Sprout Social page, you should see a button that says connect profile. Click on this button to connect all of your social media profiles.
Once your profiles are connected, you will want to head over to the Publishing page — this is where you will be doing a lot of the work from here on. You’ll notice a large calendar. This calendar is where you will be doing the content scheduling mentioned above.
To schedule your first post, click on the date you would like to schedule content for and you should see a small pencil icon pop up. Click on the pencil icon and you’ll be able to begin scheduling your your post.
Start by choosing the platforms that you will be publishing to and start crafting your caption! A few things to note about this step:
First, if you are publishing to Instagram it is important to know that links in captions are not clickable. If you are sharing a caption with a clickable link, remove it for Instagram.
Second, Sprout Social doesn’t recognize spaces between lines. To force the system to recognize a space, you need to enter the following in the intended blank line [. ], delete the brackets, and then the system should recognize the spacing.
Once you are finished crafting your caption, you need to upload the photos or video for your caption. Note here that on LinkedIn you can add up to nine photos, but on Facebook and Instagram you can add up to 10. If you are adding a video, be sure to choose an appealing thumbnail.
Once you are done creating your post, it is time to schedule! Double check that you have selected the right day, if not you can change it here. Sprout Social will also give you optimal times to post based on their data. You can feel free to use their suggested times or choose your own.
Running Reports in Sprout Social
Sprout Social has a number of native reports designed to help you determine which of your posts are working and which might not be.
At Summa Media, our favorite report is the Post Performance Report. This report allows you to see the number of impressions you received on a post, the number of likes per post, the number of comments, and more. You can compare two different posts and see which are working and which or not. This allows you to tailor your campaigns to what receives the most engagement from your audience.
We also love looking at your Profile Performance Report. This report allows you to see how much your audience has grown, how your engagement has changed over time and more. You can choose to compare specific time periods to evaluate week-to-week, month-to-month, and even year-to-year.
